Kirti Stambha (Tower of Fame)

Meaning and Name : It is called the Kirti(Fame) Stambh(Tower)
Built year : Around the 12th century
Buiding Type : Jain Structure
Built by : Jain merchant who was dedicated to Adinath, the first Jain Tirthankar (Revered Jain preacher). This tower is devoted to Digamber following of Jain religion.
Structure : There is a narrow stairway, which gives way to the seven floors to the top. Kirti Stambh is a very prominent medieval structure in Chittorgarh. Kirti Stambh is a good tourist destination also because of its architecture.
Vijay Stambha (Tower of Victory)
Built Year : between 1442 AD and 1449 AD to commemorate his victory over the combined armies of Malwa and Gujarat led by Mahmud Khilji .
Dedicated to : Vishnu
Material : It is built partly of red sand stone and partly of white marble and is enriched by numerous images of Hindu gods and goddesses with inscriptions at bottom of each. It is believed that the tower took 10 years to be completed.


Rana Kumbha Palace
Construction : The Tripolia gate at the entrance opens to the large courtyard. Originally built by the founder of the House of Mewar, Bappa Rawal in 734 AD, it was renovated by Maharana KUMBHA (1433-1468).
History : The famed poetess, Princess MIRA BAI once lived here. The legend of PANNA DHAI saving infant Udai Singh is also associated with the palace.Rana Kumbha Palace in Chittorgarh, Rajasthan, India is the very place where Padmini committed Jauhar or self-immolation along with her lady 700 followers to save honor. The archeologists are still in search of the underground cellars where this hopeless act to save their honor was performed.
